Hardness testing

A hardness tester works according to a particular principle. Most common used hardness testing methods are RockwellVickers and Brinell. All machines use a cone shaped diamond indenter (Rockwell), a pyramid shaped diamond indenter (Vickers) or a tungsten alloy ball (Brinell). For some objects the Knoop hardness tester offers an alternative solution in particular if a small space for the hardness test is required. There are a number of portable hardness testing methods of which the most common hand held models use the Leeb testing method.
